Drunk Driver Posts $10K Bail in Fatal Andover Accident

Robert Bryant, 50, of Haverhill, posted the $10,000 bail yesterday that he was being held on from charges that he struck a Haverhill woman, who later died from the injuries, with his truck on Sunday in Andover.  The prosecution team handling this case tried to maintain the bail at $50,000, in addition to a request for Bryant to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet if he made bail.  However, a Salem Superior Court judge dramatically reduced the bail amount and will not require Bryant to wear the monitoring bracelet now that he has been released from jail. This is the latest development in the story and Bryant will be arraigned in court on Jan 4.

Cynthia Ray, 30, was on her way to her car after leaving the Massachusetts State Police barracks on Route 125 Sunday afternoon when Bryant hit Ray with his truck and tried to drive away before police were able to apprehend him before Bryant reached the highway. That night, Ray died at a Boston hospital from the injuries sustained in this tragic drunk driving accident in Andover. Our sympathies go to the family of Cynthia Ray for their loss.
