Gilberto Carballo-Ortiz, 24, of Lawrence is being sought by Lawrence Police for kidnapping and threatening to kill his girlfriend with his knife, and then pushing her out of his car while driving down Marston Street Tuesday evening at about 6:00pm. The Eagle Tribune reports that witnesses saw the 28-year-old unnamed woman being pushed out of Carballo-Ortiz’ Toyota Corolla as he was driving down the street and then saw her land in the middle of the street, with Carballo-Ortiz driving off.
Police arrived at the scene and the woman explained how Carballo-Ortiz broke into her house without her knowing and he threatened her with a knife, putting it to her throat. She said that he would kill her unless she went with him to his car. Carballo-Ortiz led her by knifepoint to his car and the woman tried to escape by opening the passenger side door, which is when Carballo-Ortiz pushed the woman out and drove away. The unidentified woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.
When police arrest Carballo-Ortiz, he will be facing charges of assault and battery with intent to murder and kidnapping, among several others.
