Fatal 93 Crash in Windham, NH Claims Life of Woburn Teen

Joseph Briere, 19, of Woburn succumbed to injuries last night that he suffered in a deadly rollover crash during yesterday’s evening rush hour on I-93 South in Windham, NH.

Briere was one of four passengers in an Isuzu Trooper that was going south on 93 around 5:00pm between Exits 3 and 4 when it went off of the highway, crashed into a guardrail, rolled over and came to a rest on the driver’s side in the middle lane of the highway. There were no other vehicles in the deadly crash.

The Trooper was being driven by Kyle Ahearn, 19, also of Woburn. Three passengers besides Briere were in the vehicle and were named as Woburn residents Shshank Samual, 20, Patrick Raistrick, 18, and Ethan Ahearn, 15.

Samual, Raistrick, and both Ahearns were taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Briere was transported via helicopter to a Boston area hospital and was pronounced dead later that evening.

The crash happened right at the start of rush hour, which resulted in traffic coming to a standstill for miles on 93. Due to reconstruction of the accident scene, the area surrounding the crash was shut down for about an hour while officials did their best to reroute traffic and get cars moving. The highway was completely reopened about 9:00pm.
