Storm Causes Widespread Spinouts, Disabled Cars

Yesterday’s and this morning’s snowstorm in Massachusetts has caused many spinouts and disabled vehicles on the Merrimack Valley's major highways like Interstates 495, 94, 93, Route 3 and others.

Luckily, very few of these incidents resulted in serious collisions.
The Andover State Police barracks have reported a dozen disabled vehicles and accidents since midnight, only one of which was caused by drunken driving and resulted in injuries.

The OUI accident occurred on Route 3 in Chelmsford about 1:30 am, involving a 39-year-old driver Alicia Otero who crashed her 2006 Hyundai Sonata into another vehicle. Otero was cited for driving under the influence of liquor and a marked lanes violation and was taken to Lowell General Hospital with minor injuries.
The other accidents were minor and no one was injured.

We urge all Merrimack Valley drivers to exercise extra caution while driving as the roads may still be covered in last night’s snow.
